A Choice in Every Moment

An overland trip down the west coast of Africa, camping rough, negotiating a mine field, a hundred-mile dash down the Atlantic Coast between tides; in all my wildest dreams, I could never have imagined such a ‘change of life’, back-packing round the world as I approached 50.

Towards the end of the summer of 1995 I could have had little idea of what was to come. I was a woman who preferred two nights in a good hotel to a fortnight of camping and I was about to embark on an extraordinary journey. And all because we bought a Land Rover and went to Scotland.

This is the second book in my ‘Insights on a Curious Journey’ series.

The first book, ‘From Victim to Victory’, told the story of how an ‘ordinary’ woman with a fairly normal background discovered all things spiritual. It aimed to de-mystify the ‘New Age’ or ‘Mind Body Spirit’ philosophies and show how changing your mind could make a difference in your life. It was a story of transition from the society in which I had grown up, the 3D (third dimensional) world as I called it, to the world I was now experiencing and inhabiting.

Although I had embraced change through divorce, moving home, (several times) and a new career path, my present life was stable and predictable. I was enjoying my new outlook on life. My husband, David, had been with the same company, in ever-more senior positions, for twenty-eight years, and we were coming up to our fifties.

This, then, is the story of our journey from the point where our lives changed so abruptly on a Friday afternoon in September ’95, exactly twelve years from the day we met.
